Total Dobro Overload by Design!

ResoSummit is: 3 days of workshops by a diverse, stellar faculty; 3 evening performances at the Station Inn plus a closing faculty performance; after-hours jams; luthier consultations; and more.
Our goal: To send you home with enough homework, ideas, and especially inspiration to make this a highly creative and productive time in your musical life.

For those of you planning ahead, note that in 2020, ResoSummit will be held in September (Sept. 24-27, 2020)

New to ResoSummit? Learn more about the ResoSummit experience: check out the schedule overview below; review the workshop descriptions document (above under Participant Updates) to get an idea of the types of classes we offer (note that the classes change every year); and check out the 2019 Schedule to see how our event is structured. On-site housing is described here, and optional on-site meals are described here. Note that there are many restaurants (from fast food to fine dining) close by, in easy walking distance.

Key 2019 Info:

• Check out our 2019 faculty at right. This year, Rob Anderlik will again host an open mic, and will also have some structured jams on the workshop schedule to give participants an opportunity to put an intensive playing session on their schedule, structured by playing level and focused genres or song lists.

• The registration fee is $500 (unchanged from last year). On-site room charges for 2019 are $270 for 3 nights, $360 for 4 nights (including all taxes); and optional on-site meals (ordered in October) are: $11.25-breakfast; $13.75-lunch; $18.75-dinner.

• Youth scholarships: In addition to our Houston Caldwell Scholarship, we will work hard, as we have in past years, to provide some underwriting for as many young people as possible. If you are 18 or younger, we encourage you to complete the registration survey and contact us by email about our scholarship opportunities. If you are in a position to help support young participants, we will have a PayPal button on the payment page for this purpose. And each year, another source of funds for this purpose are deposits that participants who cancel choose to donate to our scholarship fund, in lieu of receiving a refund.

• Last year, we changed the break between classes to 20 minutes, as opposed to 15 minutes in prior years, and we'll continue that this year. The number of workshops is unchanged, with 10 workshop sessions in total.

How to Register:

Update: We opened registration on June 4, 2019 exclusively for those on the ResoSummit email list, and quickly sold out. If you would like to attend, don't despair! In most years, we are able to make offers to many people on our wait-list. The wait-list is now closed.

We give wait-list priority to international participants, to allow for the greater complexity of arranging travel and other logistics, so if reside outside of North America, we encourage you to join our wait list.

Registration Fee: $500

The 2019 registration fee is $500 (unchanged from 2018).

The registration fee includes the opening all-Summit session, 10 workshop sessions, the two "optional activities hour" sessions, nightly after-hours jamming, three Station Inn performances, and the closing faculty performance. It does not include optional on-site housing or meals. On-site meals will be available by pre-order – we will send confirmed participants a meal-order survey in October. At that time, you will be able to order meals (for yourself and any friends/family) and reserve "Friends and Family" Station Inn tickets for any family or friends who may be joining you in Nashville.

Payment Schedule:
See above for deposit details. The balance of your registration and on-site room fees is due on or before August 6, 2019. We will send you a payment reminder in advance of that due date. We take meal orders and reservations for "Friends and Family" tickets for Station Inn performances in October; you pay for those at registration.

On-site housing + off-site options:

If you want an on-site room, you should order it now; we cannot guarantee a room for you unless you reserve it on your registration survey. On-site rooms are small former dormitory rooms and generally share a bathroom with one adjacent room; they differ in key ways from hotel rooms. Details about on-site rooms are here.

2019 on-site room rates: $270 for 3 nights, $360 for 4 nights, taxes and fees included. You can generally add an extra night before or after ResoSummit; contact Betty by early October to arrange for extra nights.

Hotel: It has become increasingly difficult to arrange a group rate at a nearby hotel, with significant increases in rates. We will not have a hotel group rate in 2019. However, more rooms with double beds are now available at Scarritt Bennett Center.

Please review this cancellation & refund policy CAREFULLY before paying your deposit or fees.

ON OR BEFORE AUG. 6, registration fees and on-site lodging deposits are fully refundable minus a $50 cancellation fee.

FROM AUG. 7 THROUGH OCT. 5, registration fees are 50% refundable. On-site lodging fees are refundable if we are able to reassign your room to another participant. Otherwise, lodging fees are nonrefundable.

AFTER OCT. 5, registration fees and on-site lodging and meals payments are non-refundable.

Although we reserve the right to follow the terms of this cancellation & refund policy strictly, if we are able to fill the vacancy from our wait list or reassign your room and meals to another participant, we may, in our sole discretion, elect to refund a greater portion of your deposit.

Please note that many people on our wait list need several months' advance notice in order to be able to arrange to attend. If you need to cancel, the sooner you do so, the more likely it is that we can fill your space from the wait list, and give you the largest possible refund.

Schedule overview

ResoSummit begins on Thursday, Nov. 7. Registration opens at 3pm in the lobby of Scarritt-Bennett's Laskey Building, and on-site room check-in opens then also. There is an optional "get acquainted" dinner at 5:30pm in the Susie Gray Dining Hall at the Scarritt-Bennett Center, our ResoSummit "home", and the first official event of ResoSummit will be an 8pm performance at the Station Inn. Informal jamming space is available after-hours, as deep into the night as you wish to use it.

Friday, Nov. 8 features an all-Summit opening session, where you'll meet the faculty and hear them play in duos or trios. Three workshop sessions follow, plus an "optional activities" hour with options ranging from informal performances and demos to one-on-one opportunities to consult with faculty and our staff luthiers during "office hours". After a dinner break we'll be back at the Station Inn for a performance, followed by informal after-hours jamming.

Saturday, Nov. 9 has a similar schedule, with four workshop sessions, an optional activities hour, and an 8pm performance at The Station Inn.

Sunday, Nov. 10 features three workshop sessions. ResoSummit then closes with a faculty performance, which will end by 5pm. Some participants leave on Sunday afternoon or evening; others stay overnight and leave on Monday, so we provide after-hours jamming space for Sunday night.

Check out last year's schedule to get a more detailed view of the overall ResoSummit experience; note that there are changes to the schedule each year.
