ResoSummit 2015 is now one for this history books. A huge thank-you to everyone who participated: a record number of participants - 113, including 44 first-timers; 15 faculty; 3 amazing bands, and a small but dedicated volunteer staff.

We love this comment from a first-time participant:

quoteNow that the smoke has cleared and the dust has settled, I wanted to take the time to thank Rob and Betty again for putting together such a wonderful experience. Everything was pretty close to perfect. There were many times I even had tears in my eyes at how beautiful things were, and I'm usually not the crying type. I don't know how you manage to schedule everybody, but I got all my first workshop choices (though any of them would have been great too). The teachers were each inspiring and gave me a great cross-section of material and approaches to work on. The classes were perfect - the slower ones were paced where I could benefit from focus on the rudiments, and the higher-level ones were still conducted at a perfect pace to grasp the more challenging material. The Station Inn shows started at a very high level, and somehow got better every night. Rob and Trey's set blew my mind! Even the food was good. Best of all, the community of people that you have fostered, all committed to the dobro, was a wonderful thing. Thanks again for all you did to make that happen!"

Next Year's ResoSummit Dates: Nov. 10-13, 2016

Join the ResoSummit Wait-List

Registration for ResoSummit opened exclusively to those on the ResoSummit email list on April 1, and sold out quickly. Do not despair: join the wait-list! Every year, we are able to make offers to many people on the wait-list.

To join the wait list, complete this survey.[Note: survey link has been disabled.]

Please review the housing options before submitting your survey.

Your priority on the wait-list is determined primarily based on the date and time you submit your survey. We may adjust priority to accommodate those who live outside of the U.S. or Canada, or to maintain a balance among the various skill levels, so that we can offer appropriately-sized classes.

About ResoSummit:

Check out the schedule highlights, and visit the ResoSummit 2014 archive and its links to last year's workshop descriptions and event schedule to learn more about the ResoSummit experience.

Registration Fee: $450

The registration fee of $450 is unchanged from 2014, and it includes all 10 workshop sessions, the two "optional activities hour" sessions, nightly after-hours jamming, three Station Inn performances, and the closing faculty performance. It does not include on-site housing or on-site meals, both of which are optional.

On-site housing + off-site options:

A Vandy home football game has driven up nearby hotel prices during ResoSummit 2015, so we will not be offering a group rate at a local hotel this year. We have reserved every on-site room in anticipation of increased demand. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, we encourage you to reserve your hotel room early, and you may need to stay farther from the ResoSummit campus to find a reasonably-priced option. Please note that if you want an on-site room, you should indicate that on your registration or wait-list survey; we cannot guarantee a room for you unless you reserve it on your survey. On-site rooms are small former dormitory rooms and generally share a bathroom; they differ in key ways from hotel rooms. Details about on-site rooms, including rates, are here.

Key Dates for Participants

Aug. 1: The balance for your registration fee and on-site lodging is due. We will send you an email in advance with payment info. The cancellation and refund policy also changes after Aug. 1.

Late Sept./early Oct.: A detailed workshop schedule will be published, and you'll receive a survey link allowing you to send us your workshop preferences.

Oct. 2: The cancellation and refund policy changes; registration fees and on-site lodging and meals payments are non-refundable.

Early Oct.: You'll receive a survey that allows you to order optional on-site meals, reserve "friends and family" tickets for Station Inn performances, and provide info for your name badge.

CANCELLATION + REFUND POLICY FOR 2015

Please review this cancellation & refund policy CAREFULLY before paying your deposit or fees.

ON OR BEFORE AUG. 1, 2015, registration fees and on-site lodging deposits are fully refundable minus a $25 cancellation fee.

FROM AUG. 2 THROUGH OCT. 1, registration fees are 50% refundable. On-site lodging & meals payments are refundable if we are able to reassign your room and/or meals to another participant. Otherwise, lodging & meals payments are nonrefundable.

ON & AFTER OCT. 1, registration fees and on-site lodging and meals payments are non-refundable.

Although we reserve the right to follow the terms of this cancellation & refund policy strictly, if we are able to fill the vacancy from our wait list or reassign your room and meals to another participant, we may, in our sole discretion, elect to refund a greater portion of your deposit.

Please note that many people on our wait list need several months' advance notice in order to be able to arrange to attend. If you need to cancel, the sooner you do so, the more likely it is that we can fill your space from the wait list.

Schedule highlights

ResoSummit begins on Thursday, Nov. 12. Registration opens at 3pm in the lobby of Scarritt-Bennett's Laskey Building, and on-site room check-in opens then also. There is an optional "get acquainted" dinner at 5:30pm in the Susie Gray Dining Hall at the Scarritt-Bennett Center, our ResoSummit "home", and the first official event of ResoSummit will be an 8pm performance at the Station Inn. Informal jamming space will be available beginning at 1pm, and is available after-hours each day of ResoSummit, as deep into the night as you wish to use it.

Friday, Nov. 13 features an all-Summit opening session, where you'll meet the faculty and hear them play in duos. Three workshop sessions follow, plus an "optional activities" hour with options ranging from informal performances and demos to one-on-one opportunities to consult with faculty and our staff luthiers during "office hours". After a dinner break we'll be back at the Station Inn for a performance, followed by informal after-hours jamming.

Saturday, Nov. 14 has a similar schedule, with four workshop sessions, plus an optional activities hour, and an 8pm performance at The Station Inn.

Sunday, Nov. 15 features two morning workshop sessions, plus one 2-hour session after lunch, a good opportunity for a more in-depth treatment of key topics. ResoSummit then closes with a faculty performance, which will end by 5pm. Some participants leave on Sunday afternoon or evening; others stay overnight and leave on Monday, so we provide after-hours jamming space for Sunday night.
