Faculty & Luthiers: ResoSummit 2010

ResoSummit 2010 - Group Photo

ResoSummit is Total Dobro Overload by design:
3 days of workshops by a diverse, stellar faculty, 4 evening performances, after-hours jams, luthier consultations, and more. ResoSummit's home is the Scarritt-Bennett Center, a beautiful campus in Nashville's MusicRow-Vanderbilt area, with nightly performances at the Station Inn.
Our goal: to send you home with enough homework, ideas, and especially inspiration to make this a highly creative and productive time in your musical life.

And now, ResoSummit 2010 is one for the history books.

A few ResoSummit highlights, special moments and stats:Mike Auldridge & Jim Heffernan at ResoSummit 2010

–84 workshops offered over 3 days, at low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced, and very advanced levels, with a few beginners in the mix. Recording studio workshops at the Compass Records studio (co-taught by Ben Surratt and Rob Ickes) and at Randy Kohrs' Slack Key Studio (co-taught by Randy and recording engineer Mike Latterell).

–After-hours jamming deep into the night.

–14% international participation, with participants from Italy, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland, Israel, and Canada.

–Youngest participant: Age 11. Next youngest: Gaven Largent, age 14, attending his third ResoSummit, and performing a great blues tune with Randy Kohrs during the closing faculty performance on Sunday afternoon.

–Mike Auldridge announced his retirement from Darren Beachley & Legends of the Potomac just before the final song during their ResoSummit performance at the Station Inn on Friday night. Mike's performance, his last with the band, was truly great, and there weren't many dry eyes in the house.

–Jerry Douglas made a surprise appearance to co-teach Michael Witcher's "Decoding Jerry Douglas" workshop on Friday afternoon.

–Rob Ickes announced the establishment of a ResoSummit scholarship for future years, named in memory of Houston Caldwell. This scholarship will underwrite ResoSummit attendance by deserving young people.

–Kudos to an outstanding faculty: Rob Ickes, Mike Auldridge, Mike Witcher, Andy Hall, Randy Kohrs, Sally Van Meter, Jim Heffernan, Cindy Cashdollar, Orville Johnson, Josh Swift, Kim Gardner,Justin Moses, Greg Booth, and surprise guest Jerry Douglas, plus two luthiers who taught workshops and worked hard all weekend to keep everyone's instrument in good shape: Tim Scheerhorn and Paul Beard.

–Great workshop teaching support from Jim Hurst, Casey Driessen, Ben Surratt and Mike Latterell.

–Stellar volunteer support from Dwight Worden, Jen Ickes and Christine & Dave Hultman of MN.

–Thanks to these great sponsors: D'Addario, Beard Guitars, Scheerhorn Guitars, Compass Records Studio, GHS Strings. Stealth support from the awesome Claire Lynch.

–Next year's ResoSummit: Nov. 10-13, 2011. Back to Top
